A large part of our practice at ABS is dedicated to detailed investigations that focus on building envelope failures and roof investigations. One of the main causes of construction defect claims and litigation today is directly related to water intrusion. This typically occurs through roof failures, window leaks, and wind driven moisture through points of entry in the cladding. ABS has investigated most types of roof, window and cladding failures on high rises, multi-family condominium projects, and residential structures. Our architectural, engineering, and roof consulting staff is well qualified and trained to evaluate these projects from all aspects of design, construction, and installation. Various types of testing can also be performed on the roof, window, and wall assemblies in accordance with FM, ASTM, and applicable industry standards as required.
Our mechanical engineers know that the building envelope plays an integral part of the mechanical system’s performance. Envelope assessment is often included when ABS analyzes indoor comfort, energy efficiency and indoor air quality.
